Nestled on a piece of land off a country road, the metal panels coated with color-shifting technology from Sherwin Williams camoflage this residence with its surroundings. 

But the color isn’t just what makes this house unique. The owner and designer, Ilhan Eser, is also the CEO of Morin. Ilhan wanted to incorporate his company’s metal panels into a custom, net-zero California countryside home. 

The house has solar panels, geothermal heating and cooling, and insulated walls providing an R-value of 42 – exceeding California’s building standards. 

“When people think ‘metal’ they think of agricultural silos or warehouses,” said Ilhan. “Everyone asked,  ‘Are you sure you want a residential metal building?’”

The XC-12 metal panels are coated with Fluropon Effects Kameleon™ “Dusty Rose”. This unique product uses mica flakes without an electrostatic charge – unlike typical metallic paints – to create a consistent, iridescent gradient look. 

Now that their project is complete, the Esers are enjoying showing off the results to friends and family. “Our friends who initially said, ‘Are you really sure?’ are now saying, ‘It looks great.”
